On, September 3, 2020, Victorian Government announced that the skilled visa nomination program for Victoria will be opening on 8 September, 2020 and this nomination program will run until 5 October, 2020.
In the VIC state nomination, Government made it very clear that they are going to prioritize the applications for the critical roles that will assist the State Government to deal with COVID-19 pandemic. Applicants will only be selected if their occupations are related to health or medical research and contributing to the recovery of economy of the State.
There are 2 options for skilled migration:
- Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
Applicants can apply under two categories for Victorian Visa nomination:
- Visa Nomination Occupation List for Victoria
- Visa Nomination Occupation List for Graduates
State Government has made some major changes to their eligibility requirements for Subclass 190 and provisional 491 visa.
State Government is requiring the applicants to have lived and worked in Victoria for the past 6 months and another change is that the Government has waived the Finance requirement of $20,000 for the single applicant.
The eligibility requirements for Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) are as follows:
- Applicant must be below the age of 45 years.
- Must have English Language Test result with the minimum of 6 Bands each or equivalent.
- Applicants must have been lived and worked in Victoria for the past 6 months and needs to provide evidence for the residency
- Applicant must be currently working in Victoria for minimum of 6 months in highly skilled occupation supporting health care and the economy of Victoria.
- Applicant must commit to live and work in Victoria for at least 2 years.
Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa 491 allows the applicants to live and work in Regional Victoria for 5 years. To be eligible for this visa, applicant must comply with the following requirements:
- Applicant must be below the age of 45 years.
- Must have English Language Test result with the minimum of 6 Bands each or equivalent.
- Applicants must have been lived and worked in Victoria for the past 6 months and needs to provide evidence for the residency
- Applicant must be currently working in Victoria for minimum of 6 months in highly skilled occupation supporting health care and the economy of Victoria.
- The applicants must be committed to stay in the regional Victoria for the length of their visa.
Victorian Government has waived the 12 months employment offer for the provisional 491 visas.
